Riverdale Roofing Contractors | Reliable Roofing Services in Riverdale, NJ
Since 2012 we have repaired and replaced roofs in Riverdale. We work out of 9 Stony Brook Road in Rockaway – about 19.8 miles and 27 minutes away via I-80 east to I-287 north, then NJ-23 – and a second office in Flanders. Washington Township and Chatham Borough are on the same run. Most of these are still on one layer, which keeps a replacement simple. We do roof repair, roof replacement, roof installation, roof maintenance and roof inspection, and the chimney repair and gutter work that go with them. NJ Home Improvement Contractor Reg. #13VH10877700, GAF Certified, Owens Corning Preferred, BBB Accredited A+, general liability insured. Riverdale’s Newer Housing and Its First Re-Roofs
Riverdale is in the far northeast corner of Morris County, where the Pequannock and Pompton rivers meet and Route 23 and I-287 cross. It is small, 4,107 residents in 2020, but it grew fast: the housing count went from 940 units in 2000 to about 2,000 by 2020, and the census median build year is 1996, the newest of any town we cover. Glenburn, the borough-owned house on Hamburg Turnpike from around 1816, is a reminder that the older core is still here too.
For roofing, that growth means a large share of houses built in the late 1990s and 2000s are now reaching the end of their first set of shingles at around the same time. Under them there is usually one layer and an OSB deck in good shape, so a replacement is predictable. What we inspect first is the material the builder chose to save money on: plastic vent boots that crack in the sun, step flashing tucked without kick-out pieces at the bottom of walls, and ridge vents or attic baffles left out or blocked. Those details are what fail before the shingles do.
Everything about us can be checked independently. The NJ Division of Consumer Affairs lists registration #13VH10877700, and GAF and Owens Corning each list our certification in their contractor search tools. We send a liability certificate, $1M per occurrence and $2M aggregate, before any work begins.

Roofing Services for Riverdale Homes
Replacing a builder’s first roof
Builder-grade three-tab shingles from the 1990s and 2000s are at or past their expected life. When we replace one, we take it off to the deck rather than layering over, because that lets us fix what was skipped the first time: ice-and-water membrane at the eaves and valleys, metal drip edge, proper kick-out flashing and balanced attic ventilation. See roof replacement.
Small repairs that buy real time
On a younger roof, a leak is often one cracked pipe boot, a missing kick-out at a wall, or a few shingles lifted in a storm. Those are inexpensive roof repairs that can keep a sound roof going for years.
An inspection to decide between the two
If your neighbors are re-roofing and you are not sure whether to join them, a written roof inspection sets out the condition of the shingles, flashing, boots and attic, with photos, so you can plan instead of reacting to a ceiling stain.
About permits in Riverdale: New Jersey classes a new roof covering on a detached one- or two-family house as ordinary maintenance in N.J.A.C. 5:23-2.7, so you normally do not need a construction permit. Townhouses and condominiums, which make up part of the borough’s newer housing, are not covered by that exemption. The borough’s building department, run under an agreement with Pompton Lakes, takes calls at 973-835-0143; borough hall is at 91 Newark-Pompton Turnpike.
Riverdale Questions We Hear
What is your travel time to Riverdale?
The trip from Rockaway is about 19.8 miles, roughly 27 minutes: I-80 east to I-287 north, then Route 23. We pick up 973-960-7921 at all hours; a roof that is actively leaking is secured first, and the lasting repair is quoted once we can inspect it properly.
I live in a townhouse. Who decides on the roof?
In most townhouse and condo communities, the roof belongs to the association, not the individual owner, and the work also needs a construction permit. Check your association documents first; if you own the roof, we can quote it and handle the permit paperwork with the building department.
Close by, we also work in Pequannock, Kinnelon and Butler, plus every town on our Morris County page. Free written estimates: 973-960-7921 or the contact page.
